Covid-19 UPDATE - RM Builders and Contractors Ltd have returned to work

During our temporary closedown we have used the time to study closely the government guidance relating to construction work during the Covid-19 outbreak. We have collated stringent Risk Assessments and Method Statements dictating how our works may proceed safely, in full compliance with protocols.

A key sample of our Clients have studied our plans and, crucially, agreed that they are able to work with us in support of our safety measures, meaning that, together, we can recommence these works safely.

Further and more importantly we have discussed with and listened to our teams regarding projects. Utilising their feedback, we have created practicable safe working methods at site-specific levels.

Our final enabling factor was our amazing building suppliers who have worked so hard in order to re-open and re-start the flow of trade. We are all still learning how to cope with the outbreak as the scenarios change daily, meaning a keen eye must be kept both on updates to legislation and on new scientific knowledge. Great discipline will be required and implemented where necessary to ensure we all comply with the stringent new procedures.

Our return to work will therefore be cautious yet positive, in making the first steps towards re-building our trade and assisting the broader business economy recover from these unprecedented and extraordinary times.

The Three Hares
The Three Hares
A team of researchers came knocking on the door of Paignton Church yesterday, which we are currently renovating. They were on the hunt for an extremely rare motif, found in only 20 churches across the world including China and Russia.
The motif, three hares running in a circle sharing three ears which form a triangle at the centre of the design, is a paradox, for although only three ears are depicted each beast appears to have two.
The motif was spotted by our Site Foreman, Mark Valentine.

Our next big project, starting this month: the renovation and restoration of an extensively fire-damaged 17th Century thatched cottage, expected to take at least a year.

The property is of traditional cob and rubble stone construction, with lime render and many original features.

Strict instructions have been given by the Surveyor that "it is the intention of the Conservation Officer to salvage as much of theoriginal structure as possible".
