RM Builders and Contractors Ltd are dedicated to ensuring that they work in a way which is as kind to the
environment as possible. We recognise that our operations have an effect on the local, regional and global
environment, and are committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of
pollution. We comply fully with Duty of Care regulations.
All waste products are recycled wherever viable, and we aim to keep waste to landfill to an absolute minimum. A
quick visit to any of our sites will show a range of skips in place, each dedicated to a different type of recycling.
The story at our Unit in Tavistock is the same, to the extent that we even save waste paper in the Office so we can use the other side!
We implement measures to help the business and its employees to use ‘green transport’, for example, encouraging car
sharing and the use of public transport where practicable.
We try, where possible, to use suppliers who are willing to take away packaging for re-use or recycling and consider
the environmental impact of all purchases.
We ensure that dust, noise and odour do not cause a nuisance to the community surrounding the place of business or
site on which we are working.
We ensure that no polluting matter enters surface waters or groundwater, obtain permission before discharging any
contaminated water, and before commencing any works we check the area for endangered species, protected plant species,
trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order, and protected archaeology.
